Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity

President's Message

INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT

Hon. Bro. Chris V. Rey, J.D.

Greetings

It is an honor and a privilege to address you as the 36th International President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated! Conclave 2021 was an exciting and historic event.  For the first time in our history, we had delegates meet in person and virtually to conduct the business of Phi Beta Sigma.  Our administration’s position: “Empowering Generations, of Men to BELIEVE in Advocacy, Community Service and Engagement.” We are excited about the possibilities of having an even greater impact on our communities and the world, as the Men of Sigma march on!

Welcome to the international website of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. I encourage you to take this opportunity to glance into the world of Phi Beta Sigma, our cause, and our initiatives. Our focus around advocacy issues, community service, and engaging our communities, allows us to improve the lives of the people we touch. I am asking every brother to take a moment to determine how you, individually and collectively, can make good on our promise to “Empower Generations of Men to BELIEVE” in our collective power and abilities to make our world a better place. To paraphrase the African proverb, “It takes a village….” The lofty goals we have set cannot be accomplished by a small portion of members—achieving our goals will take dedication and active work on the part of every single member of Phi Beta Sigma! Are you up to the challenge?

This administration will continue the “Trilogy of Change.” First, we will continue to make special efforts to invest in our Brotherhood. It is my belief that investing in our members will encourage them to embrace some of our longstanding traditions and improve upon them. Among these are putting a greater emphasis on our work with the Sigma Beta Clubs. We are beginning a new phase in the life of the SBC, and we are challenged to love, encourage, and support the young men under our charge. More than ever, the Sigma Beta Clubs are necessary, to promote and maintain our culture and the progress made in the past. The result of nurturing these young minds will be the creation of global citizens who yearn to improve their communities.

We are looking to improve the life experiences of our collegiate members, with the idea that they will stay involved in the work of Sigma beyond their undergraduate years. I call upon all Alumni brothers to bear in mind the challenges of young adulthood which we faced, and the additional burdens faced by our young brothers in this fast-paced, ever-changing world. We want to advance the idea of being “My Brother’s Keeper” by taking a more active role in supporting and mentoring our collegians; they are our organization’s most valuable resource.

The third pillar is vested in our active involvement in our communities and our ability to connect our youth and collegians with opportunities to engage as servant leaders. We must make a greater effort to include our collegians in the development of our programmatic initiatives. While we continue to promote our theme “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity,” we are challenged to use every human resource available within our organization to make this our reality.

It’s a new day in Sigma! I was elected to be the change agent, to push our fraternity to achieve at the highest levels. I promise to push our membership to be the best that it can be, in the hope that doing our best will result in making our communities better.

It’s Time To BELIEVE!
