PBS Impact Foundation campaign will position Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity to make an impact in our communities and utilize our investments to build an endowment to ensure that we will have a bright and secure financial future.
During the last 12 months, we awarded $40,000 in small business grants, $98,000 in scholarships and raised more than $350,000 for our community partners. Your donation to the Impact ONE campaign will position Phi Beta Sigma to expand our programming, increase our impact in the communities we serve, and build an endowment to ensure that we will have a bright and secure financial future.
We selected the name Impact One for the campaign theme because we are Brothers of different backgrounds and thoughts, but we are connected in one body – Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. We might be separate as the fingers, but we are as one in the hand.
Impact One is about rallying the Brotherhood on one cause of providing resources for our programmatic initiatives (Sigma Beta Club, Social Action, Bigger and Better Business and Education) to make a major difference in our communities. By building a national endowment, it will allow us as a Brotherhood to have a perpetual source of funds that will provide resources for our programs.
Private funds allow Impact One to continue to assist the Fraternity in its path to preeminence as a service organization, fostering education on issues and opportunities for all.
Yes, you can direct where you want your gift to make the most impact. Here are a few of the more popular areas of giving:
Generous donors may support one of our programs or initiatives, which allow schools to bolster the programmatic offerings provided to our members and the greater communities they serve. Gift opportunities are available in the following areas:
An endowment is a donation of money or property to a non-profit organization, which uses the resulting investment income for a specific purpose. An endowment can also refer to the total of a non-profit institution’s investable assets, also known as principal or corpus, which is meant to be used for operations or programs consistent with the donor’s wishes. Most endowments are designed to keep the principal amount intact while using the investment income for charitable efforts.
Leave a lasting legacy with a specific percentage, residual or contingent gift in your will. Specify an amount, personal property, or real estate.
Double — or even triple — your gift to Impact One. Many companies will match it dollar-for-dollar, and in some cases, double or triple charitable gifts made by their employees.
The process for submitting a matching gift request differs among companies. Contact your company’s human resources officer, annual giving department, or check their website to determine your options.
All gifts to Impact One are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Also, gifts such as bequests and other forms of planned gifts can yield considerable tax benefits for donors. For more information on the tax advantages of various planned gifts, visit our online planned giving guide, and consult your tax professional.
When you make your gift, include your spouse’s name and indicate that you would like the two of you to receive joint recognition for the gift.
You can use the “Individual Contribution Form.” Check the Other box and write in the specific Endowment to which you are contributing. Also, the memo area on your check can be used.
